A Century of Sigma Pride
In 1922, seven educators joined forces and founded Sigma Gamma Rho. The sorority made history as the only NPHC organization founded outside of Howard University and the first created as a professional organization. In 1929, the sorority was granted its first chapter at Butler University and began molding young women into history-makers. Following a motto of “Greater Service, Greater Progress,” the 100,000-plus members are in politics, literature, entertainment, and more.
